Galaxy British Book Awards: the ‘Oscars’ of the book world

Today is a day to be reckoned with book-wise, and well worth knowing about if you aspire one day to be the literary equivalent of an Oscar winner.

The Galaxy British Book Awards (affectionately known throughout the book business as ‘The Nibbies’) are taking place tonight. It’s an annual event, where each winning book receives a golden Nibbie (the awards are in the shape of a large pen nib) for its success in the previous year. Shortlists in a series of categories were announced in early March and since then, both trade professionals and the general book-loving public have been voting for their favourites. Continue reading
